Bring It On: This is a battle of the cheerleaders. Last years championship team faces tough competition from a new hip-hop style team from the inner city. The high school drama plays out with the new head cheerleader having to deal with the ill will that has developed between the two teams.
Curly Sue: Destitute con performer and his adopted waif parasite onto a tightly wound plate of a lawyer. She, in turn decides that this 4-flushing couple is just what she needs to improve her life. Lynch’s evident distress recommends she might have seen the hurries. Cast includes James Belushi, Kelly Lynch, Alisan Porter, John Getz, Fred Dalton Thompson, Cameron Thor, Steve Carell, and Edie McClurg. (101 minutes, 1991)
The Shadow: This film is based on the 1930’s comics. The Shadow is called into action when his fiercest rival Shiwan Khan is attempting to take over the world. Khan’s plan is to hold a large city hostage with an atomic bomb, and through this take over the world.
The Fantasticks: Adaptation of the lengthiest-escaping-Broadway show in history by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt is sugary and tiny; this lyrical legend of youthful lovers, their dads and a bizarre showman is virtually an absurdity. It’s a treat for lyrical devotees, even if it isn’t exact Discharged after squatting on the ledge for 5 years, redone by Francis Ford Coppola; Ritchie’s rendition, with extra melodies, is on the Digital video disc. The Absent Minded Professor: The professor (Fred MacMurray) discovers an incredibly bouncy and resilient substance. He names the substance flubber.
